Come along to an exhibition and activity event celebrating the NHS’s 70th birthday and International Clinical Trials Day!
The Insigneo Institute for in silico Medicine will be joining the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust’s celebrations on Thursday 5 July from 11-7pm outside Sheffield Cathedral.
There will lots of hands-on activities and demos from healthcare organisations across the city, including stands focusing on Sheffield’s contribution the development of medical research and clinical trials. Come and find out how Insigneo uses computer models to research how our musculoskeletal system works, what loads our activities put on our bones, joints and muscles, how injuries and pathologies impact our activities and how they could be prevented.
During this event, we will show some of the work that we are doing within our EPSRC project Multisim and in collaboration with the NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre. We will show some of the equipment we use to measure our movements and the activation of our muscles and we will also show the computer models and their underlying principles that we use to simulate the human body and its movement. So if you are interested in engineering, medicine, biology or computer science, visit us at our stand!
There will be activities for all ages including healthcare robots, taking the carbohydrate challenge, finding out how our hearts works, the chance to explore a vintage ambulance and much more.
Drop-in anytime from 11am-7pm and help to celebrate this landmark occasion.
