INSIGNEO Institute for in silico Medicine are hiring a Technology Officer to join their team at Sheffield.

 

Vacancy details:

Salary: Grade 6 £25,298 – £29,301 per annum

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Professor Marco Viceconti and Director of Operations, Dr. Andrew Narracott, the Insigneo Technology Officer will undertake development activities, aimed at providing concrete implementation of software and hardware technologies necessary to translate the results of the Insigneo research activity into clinical practice. This will be achieved through engagement with major INSIGNEO research projects including Multisim and POLARIS and liaison with staff in both Corporate Information and Computing Services (CiCS) and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to ensure solutions are both aligned to research priorities and sustainable in the longer term.

All development activities will be steered toward the establishment of common approaches across research projects to ensure efficient access to University of Sheffield resources and appropriate access to clinical data sources. This will include attention to research governance and ethical issues along with appropriate anonymisation and data protection processes.

The Technology Officer will support activity to attract significant research and technological development funding in collaboration with other institute members, both from public and private sources.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good honours degree in Computer Science or a relevant area (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent programming and software skills particularly in C++ programming
  • Experience of biomedical or engineering software projects would be required
  • Familiarity with Python and Java programming languages would be desirable
