The Virtual Physiological Human is a methodological and technological framework that, once established, will enable the collaborative investigation of the human body as a single complex system. The collective framework will make it possible to share resources and observations formed by institutions and organisations creating disparate, but integrated computer models of the mechanical, physical and biochemical functions of a living human body. This movement is often referred to as the VPH Initiative.
In order to encourage, support and advance research in this area The Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) Institute was established. The VPH Institute is a not-for-profit organisation aimed to promote scientific research on the Virtual Physiological Human and integrative biomedicine at large. It sustains the synergistic coordination of stakeholders’ efforts toward the common goal of developing, testing and implementing integrative biomedical science and technology.
