Short Bursts of Cyclic Mechanical Compression Modulate Tissue Formation in a 3D Hybrid Scaffold

Insigneo members Dr Cecile Perrault, Professor Damien Lacroix and M. Brunelli have successfully published their article on mechanical compression.

The study highlights how a composite scaffold combining the mechanical strength of PCL and the soft nature of hydrogels is particularly adequate to perform mechanical stimulation of cells over long periods of time (28 days). This study also introduces a new experimental approach for inducing mineralization of undifferentiated cells which could have great potential in the development of engineered constructs for bone fracture repair.
